About Huddle Park
The original Huddle Park was laid out by Bob Grimsdell from 1948 and eventually grew to 54 holes across three eighteens — the Blue, White and Yellow courses — with the Blue serving as a former South African Open venue. After years of neglect the site was rehabilitated by David Bagg and Gordon Brews, and the Blue Course reopened on 1 November 2013.
Golfers today choose between the championship 18-hole Blue Course and a shorter 9-hole Mashie course, backed by a driving range and putting greens, so a quick practice session or a full round are both possible. The White and Yellow courses remain unrestored.
The park covers roughly 200 hectares of grassland and woodland on a wetland, with three tree-lined dams used for fishing and birdwatching. It is a public, walk-on-friendly facility that doubles as a community recreation hub, hosting a Saturday parkrun as well as mountain biking, walking trails and other outdoor activities — making it as much a green space for the surrounding suburbs as a golf destination.
