About Dainfern
Dainfern plays to par 72 over roughly 6,600 metres and is routed around the meandering Jukskei River, which comes into play on six holes. The land rolls and tumbles with rocky outcrops, greens are well guarded by bunkers, and the course sits inside a 320-hectare residential estate of some 1,200 homes northwest of Fourways.
Established in 1992, it was the first Gary Player–designed course built on a South African residential estate, a collaboration between Player and Phil Jacobs. The routing uses the river as its organising feature rather than an occasional hazard, and it remains one of the better-known estate courses on Johannesburg's northern edge.
Water is the defining challenge: the par-5 17th asks players to cross the river twice, off the tee and again on the approach. The blend of undulating terrain, bunkering and river carries suits confident ball-strikers, though the multiple tees keep it playable across a range of handicaps. Dainfern is semi-private, with visitor tee times available alongside member and estate play.
